SOME RISKS ON THE INTERNET
1. PHISHING
Phishing is an illegal practice carried out by malicious individuals (phishers) who contact users via email, SMS, WhatsApp or even phone calls. Messages sent by “phishers” can be similar, in graphics and content, to those from Rubicon in an attempt to steal confidential and sensitive information. Be sure not to open these messages, as they may ask you to:
- Clicking on a link that takes you to a fictitious copy of the official Rubicon website;
- download a compromised application;
- opening an e-mail from a suspicious or misspelled address;
- enter your credentials, payment details, or personal information in various ways, all for fraudulent purposes.
2. DRESSING
Vishing (Voice Phishing) is a type of phishing that occurs over the phone, where attackers try to obtain your personal information. Scammers contact you over the phone and pretend to be representatives of a bank or financial institution, government representative, or a well-known company, using techniques to create fear or urgency, such as claims of suspicious transactions in your account, a payment that needs to be made immediately, or the risk of your account being closed. To protect yourself from vishing:
- verify the caller,
- block the number from which the call came,
- Scan the device regularly.
