Equip yourself with a POS terminal

If you are a small or medium-sized business with a physical presence in Albania, operating in the food, hotel, bar, restaurant or taxi sectors, and you have not had a POS terminal before, apply for the POSÍ program through participating banks , starting from May 1, 2025 and benefit from a free POS terminal for 12 months with zero fees for card transactions up to a predetermined annual amount for your sector.

Digital Payments Acceptance Acceleration Program

POSI – Mastercard’s Digital Payments Acceleration Program in Albania, in support of businesses,
aims to expand the electronic payment acceptance network in the country by distributing up to 4,750 POS devices.

Businesses in the following sectors: Grocery Stores, Hotels, Restaurants & Cafes, and Taxis. Merchants who have not previously had POS equipment. Merchants with physical stores.

POSI – Free POS equipment for 12 months. 0% commission on all card transactions,
up to the annual limit determined by sector:

  • €19,000 for Groceries
  • €24,000 for Hotels
  • €15,000 for Restaurants & Cafes
  • €2,000 for Taxi

The POSI program begins on May 1, 2025 and will end either after the distribution of 4,750 new POS terminals, or on April 30, 2026, whichever occurs first.

Each merchant can only sign an agreement with one beneficiary bank. They can only receive one free POS device (each different MCC is counted as a separate merchant).
To remain active, each POS device must process at least four Mastercard transactions each quarter.

Merchants can exit the program and return the POS device at any time during the 12-month period, without any cost or penalty. After this period ends, they can return the device without penalty or switch to the pre-defined commercial terms with the beneficiary bank.
